To take a screenshot on a Mac, you can use several built-in methods:
1. Capture the Entire Screen:
- Press Shift + Command (⌘) + 3 simultaneously.
- The screenshot will be saved to your desktop by default.
2. Capture a Selected Portion of the Screen:
- Press Shift + Command (⌘) + 4.
- Your cursor will turn into a crosshair.
- Click and drag to select the portion of the screen you want to capture.
- Release the mouse button to take the screenshot.
3. Capture a Specific Window:
- Press Shift + Command (⌘) + 4 followed by the Spacebar.
- The cursor will change to a camera icon.
- Click on the window you want to capture.
4. Capture the Touch Bar (on MacBook Pro with Touch Bar):
- Press Shift + Command (⌘) + 6.
After taking a screenshot, you’ll typically hear a camera shutter sound, and the image will be saved to your desktop by default. You can also find the screenshot in the “Screenshots” folder if you’re using macOS Mojave or later.
You can also customize where your screenshots are saved, change the format, and make other adjustments in the “Screenshot” tool. To do this, press Shift + Command (⌘) + 5 and click on “Options” to explore these settings.
Remember that these methods may vary slightly depending on your macOS version, but they should work for most recent versions.
